Pick up any magazine or newspaper, and you are likely to find a variety of articles that address the issue of sustainability. But what does sustainability actually mean? What are the concepts involved in the definition of sustainability? How can these concepts be applied to our homes and daily lives?

Using the Green Building Council LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system to structure the discussion, Lexington architect Bill Hubner will explain the basic concepts of sustainability and describe sustainable practices that can be applied to the construction, renovation, maintenance and use of our homes. Mr. Hubner's talk will provide examples, case studies and real world responses, and will be followed by a question and answer session.

About the speaker: Bill Hubner has practiced architecture in Lexington since 1988. Hailing from California, where he completed his undergraduate education (UCLA), he is a 1983 graduate of Harvard University's Graduate School of Design. He has worked throughout the Northeast and in Sydney, Australia. He is a member of both the American Institute of Architects and the Boston Society of Architects (1988 to present).

This program will take place Thursday evening, February 11, at 7:00 p.m. Like all Library programs, it is free and open to all. Please join us...a sustainable future involves everyone!
